From colourful dashikis to elegant traditional prints, the Stepping Stone Hospice Charity Shop team has brightened the shop’s atmosphere by commemorating heritage month.
According to Retail Manager, Tebogo Segabetla, when staff members wear their traditional clothing, it creates such a warm and welcoming environment.
“It shows our customers that we’re proud of who we are, and it reflects the diverse community we serve. But more importantly, it reminds everyone that regardless of our backgrounds, we’re all united in supporting the vital work of Stepping Stone Palliative Care Services,” he said.

The charity shop plays a crucial role in funding the hospice’s compassionate care services, with every purchase directly supporting patients and families during their most challenging times. From clothing and household items to books and collectibles, the shop relies entirely on community donations and sales to continue its mission.
“The support from our community is absolutely essential. Every donation, every purchase, every visit makes a real difference in the lives of the patients we serve. When people donate items or shop with us, they’re not just clearing out their homes or finding a bargain – they’re contributing to something much bigger. They’re helping us provide comfort, dignity, and care to families when they need it most,” Segabetla said.
The charity shop is currently seeking donations of good-quality clothing, household items, books, and small furniture. All proceeds go directly toward supporting Stepping Stone’s mission of providing compassionate end-of-life care and support services to patients and their families.
“I invite everyone in our community to visit us. Come see what we have to offer, meet our wonderful team, and discover how your support can make a meaningful impact. Whether you’re donating items you no longer need or finding something special for yourself, you’re becoming part of our extended family and helping us care for others in their time of need,” said Segabetla.
