Randburg businesses generously made an astonishing R50 000 donation to Stepping Stone Hospice on November 6, in recognition of the unbelievable work they do for the community.
In honour of their commitment to providing specialist palliative care to both young and old experiencing the impact of life-threatening illness, Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services recently received a heartfelt donation.
Mallac Hearle & Associates, Jack & Seach, and Kapara were delighted to make a donation to Stepping Stone Hospice comprising funds raised at their recent Memorial Bowls Day at Pirates Bowls Club.
This momentous day is held annually in memory of beloved Andy Jack, Bob Mallac, and Leigh Hammond. It is organized in conjunction with their insurer partners, who willingly pay to spend the day with them, remembering these three individuals and raising funds for those in need.
With both Bob and Leigh having succumbed to cancer, and the fact that some among them are currently fighting it, Steven Jack of Jack & Seach said, “We felt it was appropriate to support a cause aligned with the fight against cancer and the treatment of those battling it in their daily lives.”
An overjoyed Tersia Burger, CEO of the five-star APCC-accredited hospice, expressed her gratitude, reiterating that they are dedicated to providing compassionate care to terminally ill patients and their families.
“In a world where every day presents challenges, it is the kindness and support from individuals and organizations like yours that empower us to continue our vital work. We’re so grateful for such an astonishing donation; this generous contribution will assist us in continuing to provide specialist palliative care to people experiencing the impact of life-limiting illnesses in Alberton and the surrounding areas,” she said.
Burger reiterated that the community’s contribution helps them keep their promise of offering care to patients with dignity.
Since opening their doors in 2013, the non-profit organization has assisted more than 3,000 patients, excluding their families, who have had to face the challenges of life-limiting illnesses.
“We aim to meet their physical, psychological, spiritual, and social needs and also support their families through this experience, bringing solace to those grieving the death of a loved one,” she said.
