Kiddies ride for hospice

Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services has been participating in this cycle event since 2014, having raised thousands of rand through the efforts of their cycling team. This year, as a first, they now boast with three entries into the Telkom 947 Kiddies Ride, scheduled to take place on Saturday 10 November 2018 at the Riversands Commercial Park.

Craig van Eeden (8) from Meyersdal and siblings Liam (6) and Isla du Toit (7) from Kempton Park, are the proud, first Stepping Stone Hospice entrees in the Ride, with the distances varying between 1km and 5km and the age groups 2 – 10 years.

The Kiddies Ride offers a wonderful adventure with closed off routes where children with different skills levels get to experience an exciting day out where winning is not the main focus, as everyone is a winner! All finishers receive a T-shirt, medal and goodie bag to celebrate their participation, and are able to enjoy some time together off their bicycles at the Spur Fun Zone!

The main race, now in its 22nd year, takes place on the Sunday 18 November where “the sting has been taken out of the tail!” Organizers have decided to REVERSE the route to make the ride fresh, exciting and more enjoyable!

“We want to thank the 30 cyclists, including our Kiddies, who have already chosen Stepping Stone Hospice as their Charity for this year’s event. We appreciate your support and truly see it as a vote of confidence in the work we do,” says Judy Joubert, team leader of the Stepping Stone Hospice Cycling team.
