Ladies of golf, making a difference

According to lady captain, Shelley Daymond, the charity golf day is traditionally held during Women’s Month to illustrate the impact that women can have on making a difference in the lives of others less fortunate than themselves.

Each year, for the past 11 years, a portion of the funds raised at this golf day has been donated to a charity, with the remainder of the funds being used to upgrade the club’s facilities. This year, Stepping Stone Hospice was chosen as the beneficiary. Says Sr Sheryl Newman, head of Clinical Services at Stepping Stone Hospice, “the support and commitment from the Alberton community and especially the members from Reading Country Club never ceases to amaze me. You help us on so many levels and I need you to know how much we appreciate it.”

This year, six lady golfers from Reading Country Club will also be riding for Stepping Stone Hospice in the annual Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge in November.
