The principal of the school, Lucilia Jacinto, explained that they heard of the “Help us Build Brick by Brick” hospice project and they thought it fitting to make a small donation in the form of an art piece made by the children, depicting a brick building. Inside each brick were some coins, adding up to total of R458.
The Lighthouse Centre cares for 35 disabled children, 13 of whom stays at the centre during the week and only go home on weekends. Lions Jhb South has taken the centre on as a project with Teresa Magalhaes, also a member of the Jhb South Lions, heading up the feeding scheme at the centre. Thanks to her commitment and support from her fellow Lions, the children receive proper meals on a daily basis.
