Close on 260 people filled the patio at the estate’s clubhouse on Wednesday 22 September, watching the sunset, nibbling on their picnic basket contents, and enjoying the company of friends and family while waiting for the superstars’ first ever ‘Oppi Stoep” appearance in Meyersdal.
Elvis Blue rose to fame in 2010 when he took part in 6th season of the reality show, Idols South Africa and was announced winner during the final held on 2 November 2010. He is the most successful Idol in the history of the franchise, with every album since his win in 2010 winning at least one SAMA (South African Music Award) with some of the albums winning more than one. He has recorded and released 9 albums in his music career spanning 15 years, 4 of which were post Idols. Two of these albums are platinum and one is gold – with his latest album “Êrens in die middel van nêrens” released in May this year. He has had 10 top 10 radio singles and has sold over 350 000 albums since 2010.
Patron for Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services, Corlia Booysen, thanked all those involved in putting this fundraising event in aid of the hospice together. “I witnessed the passion and commitment with which the hospice was started and I would like to see it grow and help even more people than it currently does,” she says.
