Rubbing shoulders with the Comrades Queen

Frith is best known as the first woman to break six hours at the down run Comrades. As a frail-looking 24-year-old in 1989, she shattered the women’s down-run record by an incredible 51 minutes and 52 seconds to finish in the amazing time of 5:54:43. Frith was inducted in into the Sport Hall of Fame in Cape Town in 2013. On Sunday she competed in the 21.1 Alan Ferguson Half-Marathon and described the run as “quite tough, but the route was beautiful.” Proceeds from the 5km Fun Run/Walk has been donated to Stepping Stone Hospice.
