Floor polisher donated to Hospice

“We care for patients in our In-Patient Unit who are terminally ill and in the last days of their lives, and one of our responsibilities are to ensure that the Unit is at all times spotless.  This polisher will certainly help in getting the job done,” says Tersia Burger, CEO of Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services.

The In-Patient Unit has five dignity rooms and patients are cared for by palliative care specialists who are supported by a team of health professionals– nurses, a physiotherapist, a psychologist and a social worker. Trained volunteers are also in attendance for the patients and their loved ones who need their support.

Karin van Wyk and Marie Pretorius are in charge of “Die Handelshuis” at the church and did the hand-over of the polisher at the Hospice. “We get from the community and we give back to the community,” says Karin.

“Die Handelshuis” collects second hand items and re-sells it. Funds raised are then used to help where there is a need in the community.

“We welcome members of the community to pay our “Handelshuis” a visit, we can almost assure you that you can pick up some amazing bargains,” says Marie. The church is on the corner of Fore Street and Ring Road West in New Redruth. Shop hours are on Wednesdays between 11:00 and 12:30 and Fridays between 15:00 and 16:30.
