How Club 2000 will help us financially!
If we can reach the 2000 tickets (lucky numbers) sold per month, we will be guaranteed of R100 000 per month income of which R25 000 will be allocated to prize money. This will leave us with a R75 000 profit. If we then break this down further –
We have 8 rooms in our In-Patient Unit– the basic costs of caring for a patient in a room per day is R1 155 – this excludes psycho-social care and medication. The profit of R75 000 from our Club 2000 programme will therefore cover the costs of caring for 2 patients in the unit per month. It may not sound like much, but it will be a huge relief and will help take the pressure off a very tight budget.
Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services is the only non-profit, community-based organization in greater Alberton, Bassonia, Glenvista, Kathehong, Thokoza and Vosloorus, where the sole mission is to offer comprehensive palliative care services, with an in-home programme as well as an in-patient facility.
This hospice is largely reliant on the generosity of the community and their own fundraising efforts in order for them to keep their doors open.

“As a fundraising team at Stepping Stone Hospice, we are on a continuous quest to raise funds to ensure that our doors remain open so that our clinical team can continue providing the much-needed care for those facing the devastating effects of a life-limiting illness.
To that end we are committed to thinking out of the box as we are mindful of the fact that even our most loyal and regular supporters are finding it difficult to make ends meet in a difficult economic climate.
Our Club 2000 fundraising programme therefore is an initiative where you, in donating to hospice, now also stand a chance to get something back – in participating in the programme, you can win some wonderful cash prizes on a monthly basis, ranging from R20 000 as a first prize to R500 as a last prize.
“We’ve been successful in registering a Lottery Scheme in terms of the Lotteries Act, 57 of 1997, and this licence now allows for us to promote a Club 2000 programme,” explains Marietjie Tame, the hospice’s Fundraising & Marketing Manager.
“It’s actually a very simple, yet exciting programme. Any member of the public can purchase a R50 ticket per month for 12 months, which then gives him or her a lucky number into the monthly draws. There are seven cash prizes, monthly, up for grabs, a 1st prize of R20 000, 2nd prize of R2000, 3rd prize of R1000 and 4 prizes of R500 each.”
“The Club 2000 only allows for 2000 x R50 tickets (numbers), which makes the odds of winning the grand prize so much better,” says Marietjie. Entrants are not restricted to buying only 1 ticket per month, in fact they can purchase as many as they want per month, as long as it is for a 12 month period.
