The theme also contains elements of human rights and justice, asking: If I matter, then why am I not getting the care I need?

Memorial Day allows for Closure

Memorial Day allows for Closure

"The memorial on Sunday gave me a sense of closure and relief as my father donated his body to WITS University, so we never had a body or ashes. Being able to throw sand onto the buried capsules and release balloons was an incredibly emotional but cathartic experience. I also had a chance to say goodbye to my dear friend, Tracy as until Sunday I could not bear to let her go. She never came to terms with dying. Having the special caregivers there for support and so many other people who shared in the day meant so much to me. Thank you for all the hard work and thought that went into this behind the scenes. "

Although she was only there for three days, she was made to feel comfortable in her last few days. For this, we were so grateful! Your staff were very loving, caring and supportive," explains Mrs Joseph.

What is a Hospice

Hospice is not a place but a ‘philosophy of care’ for people facing a life-limiting illness. It addresses a patient’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs, and also helps support those who love them.

A common misconception about hospice is that it is ‘a last resort’ and that a person must be bedridden or unable to communicate in order to receive help.
