Bowling for hospice

“Several members from our club have experienced the love and support of Stepping Stone Hospice first-hand, having had family members and loved ones in their care,” says bowler Michelle Varner whose own husband Allan passed away at Stepping Stone’s In-Patient Unit in December 2015. “A portion of the entry fees we collect per team, as well as proceeds from raffles and a market on the final Saturday will all go towards Stepping Stone Hospice, so everyone is invited to come along and support this worthy cause and, of course, cheer on all the bowlers,” she adds.

Stepping Stone CEO, Tersia Burger, was at the opening round of the tournament on Saturday and spoke to the ladies about the work that Stepping Stone Hospice does and how it’s community efforts such as this that help keep the organisation afloat. “We rely a great deal on the generosity of our community and we are honoured to be chosen as a beneficiary of this tournament. We wish all the ladies lots of luck over the coming weekends’ play and look forward to the final day where we can come together again and share in all the excitement.”
