Planning ahead can be helpful and it is easier to do this planning when you are well. Talking about the type of health care you might prefer will help others to understand your wishes and help them to make decisions for you if they ever need to. Even though you might find this discussion a bit hard now, it will make their decisions less stressful later.
It is with this in mind that Stepping Stone Hospice decided to focus on Advance Health Care directives at their next Courageous Conversations event as knowledge on this subject can help to mitigate the fallout, for yourself and for your family.
This talk is set to take place on Saturday 21 July from 10am and is aimed at people who fall into one of the following categories:
* You are an adult who is currently providing caregiving services to an elder. * You are an adult who is exploring the topic of aging in an effort to prepare yourself for the possibility of future caregiving responsibilities. * You are an elder who is exploring your own aging, and looking for resources to assist you in this process. * You have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, Dementia or Alzheimer’s
Regardless of the category in which you fall, you all have one thing in common. You are actively looking for tools and resources to ensure that you are prepared to make educated and effective choices.
Tersia Burger, CEO of Stepping Stone Hospice, will facilitate the Conversation around Advance Living Planning.
The venue for the Conversation is Café la Plume, which is located at 17 Joan Rd, Glenanda, Joburg South.
Cost is R150 per person, which includes the talk, any discussion notes as well as a light tea and refreshments. (Other items ordered from the café’s menu will be for your own account.)
Booking is essential as these talks are limited to 30 participants. To RSVP, kindly email firstname.lastname@example.org.
