Ride or sponsor for a purpose
In 2014, Stepping Stone Hospice took the brave step of entering a cycling team in the 94.7 Momentum Cycle Challenge that took place on the 16th November 2014. A whopping R380 000 was raised for the hospice by our group of 44 cyclists “riding for a purpose” in this annual cycling event.
A year later, on 15 November 2015, the Stepping Stone Hospice 947 Momentum Cycling Team did it again! The team, consisting of 85 cyclists this time, took on the challenge and a whopping R612 000 was raised for Stepping Stone Hospice.
The team’s goal with this fundraising effort is to raise no less than R700 000, funds that will go towards our “Help us Build, Brick by Brick” project – a 505sqm addition to our existing In-Patient Unit in New Market Park, Alberton.
Our unit currently has 8 wards, two of which can cater for long term patients. However, we want to add on family rooms, in other words, wards which can cater for a family member to sleep over with his/her beloved one, especially in cases where the patients are very young.
Each cyclist in the Hospice team has been requested to secure a minimum sponsorship of R2 500.
