A half a ton of plastic bottle tops later and two brand new wheelchairs

A half a ton of plastic bottle tops later and two brand-new wheelchairs donated to Stepping Stone Hospice. 15-year old Dylan Jacobs, learner at Alberton High School and a member on the schools' Welfare Committee, initiated this Social Science's project in the beginning of 2015, getting learners on board to collect as many plastic bottle tops as possible.

Through Interwaste the wheelchairs were then bought and Dylan could decide who the chairs can be donated to. "We chose hospice and CHOC as the beneficiaries as we are very aware of the good work these organizations are doing," a proud Dylan explains. Here with Dylan is headmaster Mr Jannie Olivier and Sr Sheryl Newman, clinical services manager at Stepping Stone Hospice.
