Thursday Club Helps Hospice
Every year, on the first Thursday of December, the Thursday Club in Primrose, Germiston, hands over cheques to charity organisations in and around their area. This year was no exception and Stepping Stone Hospice was the recipient of a R5000 donation from these ladies, who raise the funds through their own fundraising programmes throughout the year. This dynamic group of 24 ladies, of which the oldest member is a “young” 92 years old, live by their motto “Help us Help others”.
The Thursday Club was started on February 28, 1952 with the specific purpose to help charity organisations help others. One of their very first fund-raising projects those years was to raise 110 Pounds Sterling to buy a piano for the Elandsvallei Home for the Aged, which is still used today. Seen here is Dianne Venter, chairlady, handing over the cheque to Marietjie Tame (left) our marketing and fundraising manager. Thank you ladies, you are absolutely awesome!
