Clean water for hospice

The Environmental Protection Agency has on record that 90 percent of the world's water supply is unfit for drinking without some sort of treatment. Water may contain microorganisms that can cause diarrhea, vomiting and even death.

Water filters reduce the risk of gastrointestinal disease by more than 33 percent by removing  cryptosporidium and giardia from drinking water. Jakkie Bezuidenhout, manager of Absolutely Pure Water in Voortrekker Road, Alberton, and the operations manager, Chris Fourie, recently donated a water filter system to the Stepping Stone Hospice In-Patient Unit in New Market Park. “We know from personal experience that this hospice offers an essential service to our community to our loved ones and this is a small gesture to say thank you and to help wherever we can,” Chris says.
