Thursday Day Club

The Thursday Club in Primrose, Germiston, recently donated R2500 to Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services as part their annual outreach programme. No less than 14 organisations benefited this year from funds the club generated through various fundraising programmes held in 2014. The Thursday Club was started on February 28, 1952 with the specific purpose to help charity organisations help others. One of their very first fund-raising projects was to raise 110 Pounds Sterling to buy a piano for the Elandsvallei Home for the Aged, which is still used today. Dianne Venter, seen here serving eats and drinks at the meeting held on Thursday, is the active chairwoman of the club.
