Not just to raise funds

Vicky Bruce passed away early last year at the age of 38 after years of suffering from Osteogenesis Imperfecta.  In her last months of life, Vicky was cared for by hospice, and her dying wish was that other sufferers must be able to experience the kindness and dedication of a hospice care service.

This wish led to her mom, Tersia Burger and a group of determined Alberton ladies, establishing Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services in New Market Park, Alberton, the first of this kind of service in the Greater Alberton area.

All bikers are invited to ride in the inaugural Vic’s Vaal Bike Dash on Sunday March 30. Registration will be from 07:00 with the Ride getting on its way at 08:00. The 90km route will take bikers through the beautiful areas of Eikenhof, Walkerville through De Deur all the way to the 4-star Stone Haven Lodge on the Vaal River in Vanderbijlpark.

The entry fee of R300 per biker and R200 per passenger includes a gift and a buffet breakfast at Stone Haven. All funds raised will be donated to Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services. “My mom felt very strong about Hospice, and this is our way of creating awareness for this organization, raising much needed funds so that they can continue the work they do and simply for us to honour her memory,” says Jared.
